What’s a potion of Instant Health? A potion of Instant Health is a special potion that can heal the drinker.
Before we begin, here are the required materials:
- Brewing Stand: Use it as the block you use to brew. Just like you can’t craft a pickaxe without a crafting table, you can’t brew without a Brewing Stand!
- Crafting Table: This you’ll always need to craft the Brewing Stand, Glass Bottles, and Glistering Melon.
- 8 Gold Nuggets: Used to craft a glistering melon. Glistering melon is the main material to brew a potion of Instant Health.
- Melon: Base ingredient for a glistering melon. I’ll go over glistering melons later.
- Blaze Powder: You can’t craft a potion without fuel. Craft a blaze powder by placing a single blaze rod into a crafter, such as a crafting table, crafter block, or inventory 2×2 crafting square.
- Glass Bottles: Get sand, smelt it, and craft it into a bottle in the crafting table as one would usually craft a bucket, but with glass.
- Water Source: To fill the bottles with water.
OTHER OPTIONAL ITEMS:
– Glowstone: Turns the potion into Instant Health II, which heals significantly more amount of health.
– Gunpowder: Turns it into a splash potion, making it so that you can splash yourself, which is faster, and harm any undead mobs nearby. However, you must throw it on the center of yourself or else the effect won’t be as strong.
Collected everything? Nice! Let’s begin.
First, place your brewing stand down.

Place the blaze powder onto the brewing stand first.
It’s the top-left corner on the brewing stand with the blaze powder icon.
Then, exit the brewing stand. Enter the crafting table. Place a melon in the middle, completely surrounded by gold nuggets.
Craft it into a glistering melon.
Next, get your glass bottles. Go to a water source and get water bottles. You only have to get one, but if you want more potions and to save materials, get 3 full of water.
Go to your brewing stand, place the water bottles into the 3 bottom slots (the ones that have water bottle icons on them) and then place your glistering melon in the remaining slot. The 3 bottles should have lines connecting to the remaining spot. The bubbles on the side will begin bubbling, and the process has begun!

OPTIONAL:
After it’s done, place some glowstone on to where you placed the glistering melon. It will become a Potion of Instant Health II! It’s going to be stronger and heal more.
OPTIONAL 2.0:
If you would like, you can add gunpowder onto the place where you placed the glistering melon. It will become a splash potion. It will harm undead, like zombies, skeletons, etc… and it will heal you. HOWEVER: you have to splash it square in the middle of your player or else it will not heal yourself as strong as drinking.
If you did both the optional, you would have a splash potion of Instant Health II. Congrats! Hope ya learned something new, and see you on the next one!
