TNT, the dangerous block that can cause destruction with just a light of a flint and steel or fire charge. TNT can also be crafted into a TNT minecart with simply five iron ingots, which makes the TNT more sensitive. TNT minecarts also instant-detonate instead of having to wait for the usual TNT explode time.

In this post I’ll show you how to bombard other players with this explosive block in 3 different ways!

1. Why Does This Door Explode?

Everybody expects your front door to be… well, in the front. That isn’t the case when you build a house with the front door facing away (at the back or at the sides, somewhere known only by you) and a fake front door loaded with the explosive block, TNT!

To build this trap, you will need:

• 1 door (can be any type EXCEPT IRON, must be openable by hand!)
• 1 observer
• 1+ TNT minecarts (the more the better and bigger explosion!)
• 1 Powered Rail
• 1 Rail

Once you have collected all these materials, follow these steps to set the trap up. If you find it difficult to follow these steps, watch the video below the steps.

1. Dig down three blocks
2. Face upward and place an observer facing down. The red dot should be facing you.
3. Place a block two blocks below the observer, so there’s only one space below the observer.
4. Place a powered rail on that new block you placed, so it’s directly below the observer.
5. Attach the powered rail to another rail that is on the side.
6. Go back up to the surface.
7. Place a door on top of the observer. Close the door.
8. Now, place all your TNT minecart(s) on the powered rail.
9. Cover up the evidence you made a trap by placing some blocks above the trap/rail.
10. When you flick the door, the TNT will explode, leaving any unwanted visitors trying to get into your house back at their spawnpoint, if they even have one!

2. Free Diamond, Free Death

If you saw a Diamond Block inside of your mine, would you take it? Chances are, you would. And chances are, the person you’re trapping also will. This is by far one of the simplest traps. These are the materials required:

• 1 Rail
• 1 Diamond Ore/Diamond Block
• 1+ TNT minecarts (the more the better and bigger explosion!)

Once you have collected all these materials, follow these steps to set the trap up. If you find it difficult to follow these steps, watch the video below the steps.

1. Find the player you’re trying to trap’s mine.
2. Choose a good location and break a 2x2x2 area in the ceiling.
3. Pillar up and place a diamond block.
4. Place a rail on top of the diamond block.
5. Place a TNT minecart on top of the diamond block.
6. Cover all of it back up.

3. TNT Particle Accelerator

A particle accelerator speeds up charged particles using electromagnetic fields. It’s a real-life machine used in scientific experiments! Some circular types boost the particles’ velocities by looping them over and over in a machine.

We can make a particle accelerator, (though not as fast) in Minecraft! Minecraft’s 24w33a snapshot introduced a new game rule subcommand in experiments. It’s called minecartMaxSpeed. If you happen to be playing on that version, we have a very fun trap for you but not so fun for the victim!

These are your materials needed:

• 8 Powered Rails
• 4 Rails
• 2 Levers
• 1 Button (any kind)
• 1 TNT minecart (if you want more than one launch, you can get more TNT minecarts)
• Some blocks

Before you follow the instructions, here are a set of instructions you need to follow: (I know. Weird, right?)

YOU MUST BE ON SNAPSHOT 24w33a FOR THE EXPERIMENT TO BE AVAILABLE!

1. Create a brand-new world.
2. Go to the “Experiments” tab on top.
3. Enable the “Minecart Improvements” experiment.
4. Adjust any other settings you would like for the world, and click Create World.

Once you have collected all these materials and have created a world with the correct experiments enabled, use the video to set the Particle Accelerator up.

NOTES ABOUT THIS DESIGN:

You can adjust the height of the ramp the TNT minecart flings off of to make the TNT minecart go further or shorter. Remember to add more levers if you do to power the entire ramp if you make it too long.

At the time 0:39 – 0:41, breaking the rail is not required. All breaking does is make the TNT minecart go further by launching the TNT higher.

You don’t have to make the slope upward. If you’re trying to hit a target downward, make the ramp go downward. Just be careful while playing with TNT minecarts so you don’t explode your own particle accelerator!

When placing the TNT minecart onto the rail, you can place it on the ramp so it will roll down and start spinning without you having to push it. Pushing it by yourself can lead to catastrophic deaths, and the explosion of your particle accelerator.
