There are many, many Minecraft mobs… 87 as of 2025! There are many types: Hostile, ones that attack you, Passive, ones that don’t attack you, Neutral, ones that harm you only when you provoke them, and finally- Boss mobs! Boss mobs are usually massive, powerful mobs that can easily rampage their way through you and many blocks alike!

Within these 4 categories, there are other mobs and even some subcategories, depending on the way you group them. However, there are a few mobs that are near impossible to find in your vanilla Minecraft world, and we’ll be diving deep into those mobs today!

  1. Blue Axolotl: With a 1 in 1200 chance to spawn, the Blue Axolotl is one of the rarest mobs Minecraft has to offer.
  2. Pink Sheep: To see a pink sheep is 1 in 643 chance. This one is significantly more common than the Blue Axolotl, but rare, nonetheless.
  3. Brown Mooshroom: A brown mooshroom has a 0% chance of naturally spawning! The only way to get one is when lightning strikes a red mooshroom, which are also extremely rare, or when breeding red Mooshrooms, a 1 in 1024 chance that the baby will be brown, not red.
  4. Diamond Armor Zombie Jockey: What a long name! The chance of a normal Chicken Jockey spawning is 0.25% chance, and a full diamond armor zombie has a 0.04% chance. Merge them together, a Diamond Armor Zombie Jockey, has the chance of 1 in 512,820 spawning!
  5. Drowned with a Fishing Rod: Out for some fishing? Make sure you don’t hook him! He’s a drowned holding a fishing rod, a very rare occurrence. It’s a 1 in 118 chance of spawning in the wild!
