Rubik’s cubes have been considered one of the world’s best puzzles since 1980. Here’s when each cube was invented.

1980 < The first Rubik’s Cube was invented. (3×3)

1981 < The first 4×4 Rubik’s Cube sees light.

1983 < The 5×5 Rubik’s Cube now is on the face of the planet.

2008 < The first 6×6 Rubik’s cube now exists.

Wait, what????? Why is the 6×6 cube invented in 2008? Well today I can tell you all of that behind one screen. Now, let’s get started:

You see, on the 6×6 cube, the corner will be farther out. So, when turned 45 degrees, the corner piece can fall off entirely.

So how do people make it stay on?

They increased the corner size. It’s as simple as that, and it took 25 years after the original 5×5 for the 6×6 to be created.
