Year after year, the world tries to build higher and higher. Today we will be looking at the Tallest Building in the World, aka Burj Khalifa.
In 2010, the Burj Khalifa (currently owned by Emmar properties) was opened. It immediately became the world’s tallest building and holds the record even till today.
With the Burj Khalifa standing 828 meters high, it was unstoppable. Even more is China, its closest rival, has banned supertall buildings.
A supertall building is 600 meters tall.
China banned buildings that were unnecessary and useless. Tall buildings also created shade for things nearby it, so other buildings wouldn’t get sunlight.
But why do people even build such structures? Tall towers and buildings stop something called ‘Urban Sprawl’. Urban sprawl is when to many people come into one area and it becomes overpopulated.
The Burj Khalifa has broke numerous records:
- World’s Tallest Free-Standing Building
- World’s Tallest Building
- World’s Tallest Observation Deck
That’s all for today. Come back later for more.
